February 2, 1935 ~ January 28, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Wolcott - William “Bud” Weymer, 87, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the UConn John Dempsey Hospital with his family by his side.
Bud was born on February 2, 1935 in Derby, son of the late William and Flora (Cummings) Weymer. Bud served honorably in the United States Army and later became a toolmaker. He proudly owned his own manufacturing company for a number of years until his retirement. He was a life member of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department Co 2; He was responsible for starting the tradition of the santa run, beginning in 1963 for his son Billy. He loved his family, dancing, music, and the outdoors. Most of all he cherished the many weekends he was able to spend with his son Bill over the years. That time was his greatest joy. William is survived by his children, Kimberly Corbett of Wolcott, Catherine M. Ricci and her husband Howard of Thomaston, and William Weymer of Wolcott; three grandchildren Niklas Ricci, Brooke Corbett, and Sarah Corbett; his sister Joanne Prasauckas; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth, Virginia, Margerie, and Robert.
Bud’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Farmington Station senior living for their caring, kindness, compassion and companionship over the past year. Also sincere thanks to the nurses at UConn Hospital for their kindness and compassion shown to all of us during Bud's hospitalization. Calling hours are Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bud’s name to the Wolcott Commission for Individuals with Special Needs, 10 Kenea Ave. Wolcott, CT 06716
