Tribute

CANAAN/WOLCOTT - Virginia Elizabeth (Eaton) (Sturges) Ferranti, widow of Thomas Dominic Ferranti went to be with Jesus on February 3, 2019.

Born December 10th, 1931 in Great Barrington Mass., daughter of Hamilton (Hammy) and Marion (Anson) Eaton of Lakeville, CT.  She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1951. She also graduated from St. Mary's Baby Hospital in Albany, NY. After marriage she worked at St. Francis Hospital on private baby cases, at Ann's Nursery in Norfolk and Lynn Haven in East Canaan. She moved to Wolcott and spent many years in food service, like Johnny's Restaurant in Forestville, CT. She then opened up her own catering business with her husband, T&V Caterers for 12 years. She then was a waitress and a bartender at the Waterbury Club in Waterbury for 16 years before retiring. She loved gardening, enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her family. She was a member of the Wolcott Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and All Saints Church in Wolcott. She had a great love for Birds especially Cardinals.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Sturges Becker and her partner Richard Weaver of Canaan, CT; her son Stephen Sturges II and his wife Lisa of Wolcott, CT; her brother Hamilton (Sam) Eaton and his wife Polly of Scottsdale, AZ.; grandchildren Paul LaCoursiere of Santa Fe, NM., Kyle LaCoursiere ,Trisha Naples and Stephen Sturges III, all of Wolcott, and Kenneth Weaver of Canaan, CT; great-grandchildren Aubrey Rabis, Logan, Gwenevyre, and Zoey LaCoursiere, and Anthony and Jamison Naples. She is predeceased by her parents; her daughter Gail (Sturges, LaCoursiere) Capozzi; and her sister Dorothy Eaton Merhige.

To the many wonderful people of Geer, both staff and visitors who loved and treated her so wonderfully, we are forever in your debt.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 8 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott, and on Saturday, February 9 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lime Rock Church, 484 Lime Rock Rd, Lakeville, CT. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Salisbury Cemetery on Route 41.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s name to the Audubon Center, 325 Cornwall Bridge Rd, Sharon, CT 06069 or Trinity Church, 484 Lime Rock Rd, Lakeville, CT 06039
