Roger E. Depeault
May 27, 1928 ~ March 6, 2019 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Waterbury – Roger E. Depeault Sr., 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. He was born in Waterbury on May 27, 1928, son of Phillippe and Helene (Cordeau) Depeault.
Roger graduated from St. Anne School in 1944 and attended Wilby High. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving during Korea from 1950-1952. He was a police officer for the Waterbury Police Department for 37 years before retiring.
Roger was the former sexton and ran Bingo at the Shrine of St. Anne. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Name Society; a member of the Franco-American Society club; VFW; and Waterbury Elks Lodge. He was also an avid Met’s fan.
Roger is survived by his sons, Roger E. Depeault Jr.; and Robert E. Depeault; his daughters, Eva Butch, and her husband, John; Phyllis Riley, and her husband, Edward; Rose E. Persico; and Lynne Depeault; his 2 sisters from Canada; his grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Nicole, Megan, and Conor; his great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cameron; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by his wife, Giselle (Leblanc) Depeault and his first wife, Elaine (Hutt) Depeault; and his 6 brothers from Canada.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 309 S. Main St. Waterbury. Family will be receiving friends at church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass begins. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
Roger’s family would like to thank the staff of Wolcott View Manor, and VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for the exceptional care they gave during his stay.
