Robert W. Shove
Loving husband, father, and grandfather

Wolcott – Robert W. Shove, 78, of Wolcott, passed away quietly on February 6, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol (Baldoni) Shove.

Born on April 4, 1944 in Waterbury, Robert was the son of the late George W. and Ellen (French) Shove. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ellen (Shove) Burns.

Robert was a member of Wolcott High School’s first graduating class of 1962. After graduation, he served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving his country, he went on to work at Bristol Babcock for over 30 years, retiring in 2006. Married for 44 years, Robert loved being at home with his family and caring for his yard and his garden. A wonderful storyteller, Robert’s sense of humor and endless patience made him the “rock” of the family. To his family, he was best known as “Papa.”

Robert is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Chance, and her husband, Wayne, of Wolcott, and his son, Matthew Shove, of West Haven; his four grandchildren, Chloe, Lauren, and Caleb Chance, and Summer Skye Shove; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son, Robert W. Shove, Jr.

Calling hours are Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
