Rita C Santogatta

“Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.”

Wolcott - Rita Bohuski Santogatta, 93, a long time resident of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2019 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife and widow of Joseph Santogatta.

Rita was born in Beacon Falls on May 20, 1926, daughter of the late Constance (Paszel) and Vincent Bohuski. She loved being outside with nature watching the birds and the wildlife. Rita cherished her family and was so proud of their many accomplishments.

She is survived by son Michael Santogatta and wife Ann of Wolcott, daughter Cheryl Johnson and husband Choyce of Watertown, three grandchildren, USCG Commander Caryn Margita and her husband Timothy, Julia Santogatta, Joseph Santogatta and his wife Brandi, three great grandsons, Christian, Joseph and Anthony Margita, as well as her sister-in-law Lorraine Bohuski and many nieces and nephew.

Rita was predeceased by her brothers Thomas and Vincent Bohuski and sisters Bertha Wersig, Stephanie Sledjeski, Stella Osowiecki, Genevieve Miaski, Frances Zoss and Lillian Tulacro.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday February 11, 2020 at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, 389 Boundline Rd, Wolcott.

Rita and her family appreciated the dedicated care she received from the staff at Middlebury Convalescent Home and the kind attention from families of other Middle Convalescent Home residents.
