Rita J. Philibert

Winsted – Rita (Deschaine) Philibert, 81, of Winsted, passed away on April 19, 2022 at Valerie Manor in Torrington. She was the loving wife of the late Marcel Philibert.

Rita was born on June 25, 1940, in Fort Kent, Maine, daughter of the late Herbert and Hilda (Berube) Deschaine. Rita enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and would always end her visits with them by saying, “Love you more!”

Rita is survived by her four children, Michael Philibert of Rhode Island, Lisa Philibert of Terryville, Maureen Nolan and her husband Jeff of Wolcott, and Mirielle Besanceney and her husband James of Winsted; her brothers, Elmer Deschaine and his wife Marion of Watertown, and James Deschaine and his wife Naomi of Bristol; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Christina, Julia, Heather, Brian, Elizabeth, Marissa, David, Jason, and Brandon; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her stillborn son, Daniel Matthew Philibert; two sisters, Mary Jane Neary and Theresa Deschaine; and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Philibert.

Family and friends may call on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road., Wolcott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St Pius Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E Main St, Waterbury
