Richard Shaknaitis

Waterbury – Richard C. Shaknaitis, 83, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Saturday evening, March 5. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Insolia) Shaknaitis.

Richard was born July 4, 1938 in Waterbury, son of the late John and Jennie (Barnativious) Shaknaitis. Raised in Waterbury, he was a graduate of BW Tinker Elementary School and Leavenworth High School, class of 1956. Richard will be remembered for his love of taking trips on his motorcycle with Franny. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by his children, Mark Shaknaitis and his wife Shelly of Meriden, Tracy Marti and her husband Edward of FL, Brian Shaknaitis of Bristol, Jason Cohen and his wife Sabrina of MA, Shaina Hamel and her husband Eric of Bristol and Sarah McCarthy and her husband Daniel of Harwinton; one brother, David Shaknaitis of East Hampton; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Shaknaitis.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 11, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd, Wolcott. Burial will be private.
