Ranceford P. Byers

Wolcott – Ranceford “Ranny” P. Byers, 81, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was the loving husband of 58 years to Judith (Gaugler) Byers.

Ranceford was born on March 21, 1941 in Waterbury, son of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Schnell) Byers. Ranceford was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 326 and worked as a Concrete Foreman at Waterbury Concrete Foundation for a number of years before his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, kayaking, hunting, and tending to his garden. He loved his cats and cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving family.

Besides his wife, Judith, Ranny is survived by three daughters, Beverly Desaulniers and her husband David, Cheryl Gray and her husband Steven, and Deborah Nadeau and her husband Patrick; 10 grandchildren, Amanda Langdeau Keegan, Brittany Langdeau Kodys, David P. Desaulniers, Randall Y. Desaulniers, Steven Gray Jr., Monica Gray, Jordan Nadeau, Shelbi Nadeau, Serena Nadeau, and Tyler Nadeau; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Keegan, Leilani Kodys, Bryce Kodys, and Chase Keegan; and his sister Marlene Madzek and her husband Michael as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Monday, May 2, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Burial will be held privately.
