Waterbury – Neil F Maloney Jr of Wolcott, husband of Florence (Klimowicz) Maloney died on July 17th, 2022 at St Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Maloney was a grandson of Cornelius Maloney, founder, publisher, and editor of the Waterbury Democrat newspaper which was purchased by the Waterbury Republican-American in 1946.

Mr. Maloney was born in Waterbury, CT in July of 1930, the eldest son of Cornelius F. Maloney, past editor-in-chief of the Waterbury Republican-American and Florence (Girard) Maloney. He graduated from St Mary’s grammar school and Crosby High, Class of 1948. He also graduated from Porter School of Tool and Machine Design in 1954.

Mr. Maloney was a Navy veteran and worked as a screw machine/design engineer for The Bristol Co., Bar Work Mfg, and Timex. For many years, he was self-employed as a design consultant for screw machine shops locally and within the USA.

Mr. Maloney was a longtime fan of both the Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising his own vegetables and puttering around his house making small repairs.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kathleen Simons of Wallingford, and 2 sons, David and his wife Maryellen of Southington, and Richard and fiancée Heather of Naugatuck. He also leaves one granddaughter, Jessica Maloney of Southington. Additionally, he leaves 3 brothers, John of Wolcott, James of Watertown, and Patrick of Waterbury and 1 sister, Marianne of North Myrtle Beach SC.

Arrangements-Private funeral services will be held at Woodtick Memorial in Wolcott. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown on July 22nd.
