Wolcott – Mary Dowling Lindsay, 90, of Wolcott, passed away on November 4, 2020 at her home surrounded by loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Wilson (Bill) Lindsay.
Mary was born on January 25, 1930 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Terrence and Florence Irene (Cassidy) Dowling. Mary received her Masters of Elementary Education from Western Connecticut State University and taught in various schools in Waterbury. She retired in 1992 after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Association of Retired Teachers of CT and Les Ruby Belles Red Hat Society of Wolcott. She will be remembered as being a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church where she served in the Ladies Guild and the Rosary Society. She also loved traveling and bowling.
Mary is survived by four sons and their wives: Timothy and Robin of Wolcott, Kenneth and Annamarie of Jenson Beach, FL, Raymond and Lynn of Terryville, and Terrence and Anne of Wolcott and a daughter, Colleen Lindsay of Wolcott. She also leaves nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by three brothers: Terrence, James, and Eugene Dowling and a sister Barbara Cotton.
Walk through visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. All attendees are asked to wear a mask and to follow proper social distancing protocols. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 10th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church (St. Basil the Great Parish) 525 Woodtick Rd. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
