Tribute

Wolcott - Marilyn Olmstead passed away on January 12, 2022 in Bristol, Connecticut with her children by her side. Marilyn, daughter the late John & Myrtle (Hughes) Akerson, was one of seven children, born in Perham, Maine on September 4th, 1937.

Marilyn married Norman in 1953. They had five children, Steven, Gary, Roger, Danny & Trudy. She had 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom she adored greatly. Her family was her pride & joy. She was the true definition of “mama bear”. Her family will forever cherish Thursday night dinners and family gatherings enjoying her delicious desserts and listening to her contagious laughter.
Marilyn was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and was employed by Health Unlimited and enjoyed her many years bartending at Burn’s café.

Marilyn loved the outdoors. The moon, the beach, lake life but especially a winter storm. She was always the first to bundle up for a snowy walk. She was proud to be from Aroostook County and spent many seasons reuniting with her family telling stories by the fire. Marilyn will always be remembered for her beauty, adventurous spirit, and fantastic fashion sense.

Marilyn was predeceased by her brothers, Galen, John and Hugh Akerson and sister Kathleen Gallagher. Marilyn was survived by her children: Steven Olmstead and wife Chris Nelson, Gary and wife Tianna Olmstead, Roger and wife Kathy Olmstead, Danny and wife Sharon Olmstead and Trudy and husband Ralph Ciccio. Sisters, Maxine Cote of Palm Harbor, Florida and Natalie Riggs of Anderson, Indiana, Sister in laws, Joyce Akerson of Stockholm, Maine and Norma Akerson of Woodland, Maine and her partner of 25 years Belton McCarley of Wolcott, CT.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff at Bristol Hospital for their support.

Services for both Marilyn and Norman Olmstead will be held on March 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Faith Church, 16 Town Line Road in Wolcott, CT.
