Loretta R. Kunicki

Wolcott – Mrs. Loretta “Lori” Kunicki, 81, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Mr. John Kunicki.

Lori was born on October 8, 1937 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Hilary and Statia (Morytko) Rama. Lori was a graduate of Crosby High School, class of 1955, and the Teachers College of Connecticut, class of 1959. She later continued her education at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury and Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. While partaking in her studies, Lori earned her hair dressing certification. Lori worked at Prospect Elementary School and in the Naugatuck Catholic School System for a number of years and later became a school Psychologist in the Wolcott School System from 1972 until her retirement in 1997. She had a passion for helping future generations further their education.

Lori enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winters, the beach, playing bridge, attending water aerobics, bowling and golf. She was also a member of St. Pius X Church in Wolcott. Lori loved her family and cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Besides her husband John, Lori is survived by her daughter, Kari Yashenko and her husband John of Wolcott; her brother James Rama and his wife Marcia of Penfield, NY; three granddaughters, Sara Bennett and her husband Zane of Wilmington, NC., Jodi Santiago and her husband Eddie of Watertown, and Johna Yashenko of Bristol; her great-granddaughter, Spencer Bennett, and two more great-grandchildren on the way. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas “Tommy” Rama.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10 A.M. at St. Pius X Church (St. Basil the Great Parish), 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
