Kraig W. Olmstead

June 29, 1979 ~ August 16, 2021 (age 42) 42 Years Old

Tribute

Bristol - Kraig Olmstead, 42, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021, surrounded by family, following a brief illness.

He was born in Waterbury to Kirt and Cheryl (Adamski) Olmstead. Raised in Wolcott, he played for the Baseball Association of Wolcott for nearly a decade. He graduated from Wolcott High School in 1997, and began working alongside his father at the family business, Wolcott Sand & Gravel. Kraig enjoyed a life long career in the construction field.

Drawing on his artistic side, he started his own stone art and engraving business, Mad River Rock Expressions. He loved the outdoors, and spent much of his free time boating and fishing in Niantic, or at the family hunting camp on Square Lake in northern Maine.

As well as being a diehard Red Sox and Patriots fan, Kraig was an avid gamer, a passion he shared with friends and family all over the country.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind a brother, Jamie Olmstead and his spouse, Robin; and two remarkable daughters - his proudest achievements - Cheyenne and Leah Olmstead. He also leaves behind his best friend Jennifer Sherman.

The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

A wake will be held in Kraig's honor on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT. Calling hours, from 12-2pm, will certainly be the only instance in which Kraig will ever be on time.

The family requests everyone attending to wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kraig Olmstead's name can be made to: Wolcott Crossroads Inc., PO Box 6001, Wolcott, CT  06716, or Wolcott Food Pantry, 358 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT  06716.
