Wolcott - John R. Penhallow, 90, of Wolcott, CT passed away on December 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Faye (Klinzmann) Penhallow; his son Mark Penhallow of Wolcott; his daughter, Nancy (Penhallow) McCarthy and her husband, Kevin of Bristol; and his son, Scott Penhallow and his wife, Jennifer (Luddy) Penhallow of Waterbury. John also leaves his four grandchildren, Ryan McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Emily Penhallow and Molly Penhallow along with a niece and 6 nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Caroline Penhallow; his sister, Louisa Penhallow and his brother, William Penhallow.

John was born on August 13, 1930 and was raised in Woonsocket, RI. He graduated from University of Rhode Island with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in ROTC and the army as a Second Lieutenant Infantry and was honorably discharged in 1954. John moved to CT to pursue his career where he met and married Faye, his wife of 62 years. He spent most of his career at Anaconda Metal Hose until his retirement. John had so many interests and passions. He was actively involved in All Saints’ Church and served on the deanery for many years. John was on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Community School, Waterbury. He was the recipient of the Attorney Robert E. Mellon Service award in 2015. He loved gardening, fishing, and all sports including the New York Yankees and The New York Giants. John also played football during high school and college until he was sidelined with a knee injury. He was one of the founding members of the E Club which established midget football in the town of Wolcott in the early 1970ś. John and Faye loved to cruise and spent many years traveling together.

There will be a calling hour at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Bound Line Road, Wolcott. Masks and social distancing are required. A memorial service will be held at All Saints’ Church at a later date.
