John Joseph LONGO, 82, died on January 30th, 2021, after a brief battle with CoV-2.  Born on March 20th, 1939, the second of five children, to Giovanni Patrico "John" & Assunta Maria "Susie" (Rossi) LONGO di dottoriello, John is a life-long resident of his native Waterbury, and grandson of Italian immigrants from Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italia.  

John was a history enthusiast, a die-hard Red Sox fan, and a news buff.  Formerly employed by Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, John left his job to care for his aging father after John's mother's death.  John was known well among his neighbors, and was seen nearly daily walking to and from various nearby businesses, sometimes working miscellaneous volunteer positions.

In addition to his mother and father, John is predeceased by his sister Joanne Longo, his brother Michael Longo, his brother-in-laws Vincent E. Martinelli, and John Santopietro; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  John leaves behind his sisters [the late John &] Dorothy Marie (Longo) Santopietro, and [the late Vincent E. &] Marie Dorothy "Maureen" (Longo) Martinelli; nieces and nephews [the late Saverio Antonio &] Deborah Lynn (Martinelli) Guerriero, Vincent E. Martinelli, Jr., Kenneth John [& Lucy (Daddona)] Santopietro, Susan (Santopietro) [& Ted] Domejczyk, and Dawn Martinelli; and five grand nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
