July 3, 1938 ~ March 2, 2022 (age 83)

Tribute

Wolcott – Joan passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 surrounded by family.

Joan was the first daughter born in Waterbury, to the late Wilfred and Anastasia (Nancy Moneta) Robillard. Joan attended and graduated from the Waterbury school system.

She married Lawrence Rousseau and together they had a daughter, Lucienne. Joan worked at Allied Air Conditioning in Waterbury and it was there that she met her 2nd husband, Donald Polowitzer. They were married until his death in 1981.

Joan was the very proud owner of Joan’s Barn. As the single proprietor, she sold antiques and taught arts and crafts to the neighborhood children for years each Saturday. Later in life she ventured into the world of flea marketing! You would find her each weekend selling her beautiful jewelry and special treasures to her loving customers.

Joan was a woman who would give you her last dime. Although she did not live extravagantly, she had a very rich heart, always donating to various charities as often as she could.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her only daughter, Lucienne Marsella and her husband Chuck who she loved as a son; Shea, Spencer and Mackenzie, her granddaughters, were the gifts that made her eyes twinkle. She loved them more than anything in the world. She also leaves behind a sister, Marilyn Robillard; a nephew William Rabtoy; a niece Lauren Lombardi and her special aunt, Geri Coulson. She also leaves behind many other family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and her pals from the flea market, Lydia, Sue, Joe and her “bestie” Rita.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Robillard and her niece, Bonnie Rabtoy.

The family would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospital, including Vitas Innovative Hospice, for the loving and wonderful care that they provided.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 11:30 A.M. at the Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Friends may visit with Joan’s family from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
