Wolcott – Mr. Henry J. Doucette, 100, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 11 after a brief illness.
Henry was born and raised in Mexico, Maine, before moving to Waterbury in his 20’s and then to Wolcott in his 90’s. He worked at Chase Brass and Copper while running his business, Henry’s Roofing on the side. Later, Henry’s Roofing became his full time work. He had served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He will be remembered for his love of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, betting on the horses and trips to the casino. He most enjoyed his weekend card games with his daughters and friends.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Cerene (Arsenault) Doucette, he was one of their seven children including Willie, Emile, Frank, Edna and Ida who predeceased him. He leaves behind three daughters, Penny Neher of FL, Margaret (Peggy) Landi of FL and Sharon Mailoux of Wolcott; his sister Yvonne (Doucette) Elliott of Maine; his grandchildren, Ed, Penny Marie, Elissa, John, Dawn, Eric, Anna, Alana, Glenn and Carley; his great-grandchildren, Brittany, Chris, Corey,
Tracy Lynn, Brooke, Kinsley, John, Brandon, Skylar and Payton; his great-great-grandchildren, Callie, Colton, Ryan, Kyle and Julianne; daughter-in-law, Lisa Doucette; former daughter-in-law, Helen Texiera, sister-in-law Cora Doucette and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his second wife, Barbara (Yarrington) Doucette, two sons, William (Billy) Doucette and Glenn Doucette and his grandson, Nathan Nelson.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 16, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Church (Mary Mother of the Church Parish) 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
