Helen DeLeo
February 4, 1917 ~ May 1, 2018 (age 101) 101 Years Old
Waterbury – Helen (Elena) DeLeo, 101 years old, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother in law, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
She was the daughter of Antonio and Nicoletta (Stango) diCecilio and wife of the late Frank (Francis) DeLeo for 73 years.
For 35 years, she and Frank spent winters in Fort Lauderdale, FL, graciously entertaining family and many friends at their home.
She was a strong, charming lady, who dearly loved her granddaughters, Elayne and Karen; and three great-grandchildren, Valerie, Spencer, and Madelyn – always making sure they were well fed.
She is survived by her son, Raymond, and his wife, Marge, of Essex, CT; granddaughters, Elayne DeLeo-Studstill, and her husband, Lawrell, and their daughter, Madelyn of Atlanta, GA; and her granddaughter, Karen McLean, and her husband, Brian, and her children, Valerie and Spencer Fialkoff, of Haddam.
The family would like to thank her beloved caregivers, Maria and Ana, Dr. Jega, whom she adored, the staff of Vitas at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Marge, her daughter in law, a nurse, who oversaw her care. Services for Helen will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to either International Rescue Committee P.O. Box 6068, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9847 or Autism Society of America, 101 N Plains Industrial Road, Harvest Park, Wallingford, CT 06492.
