Wolcott - Helen A. Daniels, 90, of Roosevelt Lane, Wolcott, died Thursday, May 5, 2022 after a long illness. Helen was the devoted wife to John Joseph Daniels, Sr. for 59 years until his passing in 2008.
Helen was born on November 1, 1931 to John and Anna Butkevich of Waterbury, CT. Helen, or “Putsie” as she was commonly referred to, was the “baby” in her family of 6 brothers and sisters.

Helen met her husband John while roller skating at the Hamilton Park Roller Skating Rink which is now Seven Angel’s Theater. They married after John came home from his time in the U.S. Navy and got busy building their home and lives together alongside Hitchcock Lake in Wolcott. She was a devoted mom to her two adopted children until their pre-teen years at which time she entered the workforce. She was a parts assembler at North American Phillips in Cheshire and retired in 1974. Helen “lived her best life” spending time with her family and friends, hosting many memorable summertime gatherings at the lake. Helen was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Wolcott and enjoyed being a member of the St. Pius X Ladies Guild.

Besides her husband, John, Helen was predeceased by her sisters Olga and Mary, and her brothers John, Peter and Michael all of whom she loved with all her heart.

Helen is survived by her daughter Donna, with whom she shared her home and life with throughout her long journey with vascular dementia. She also leaves a son, John J. Daniels, Jr. and his wife, Alison of Santee, SC and three grandchildren, Shannon Daniels, Christopher and Geoffrey Mottola, as well as a sister, Frances and many beloved nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews…

Helen’s daughter would like to send special heartfelt Thank You’s on behalf of herself and her mother to the many care providers for their love, support and care during the last 12 years of her mom’s life, most notably, Sabrina, Deb, the “Angels” at Mulberry Gardens Adult Day Center and the nurses and CNA’s at Hartford Healthcare-Hospice at Home.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Basil the Great Parish located at 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT. Family and friends are asked to gather at the church. Burial will follow at the New St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT is entrusted with arrangements.
