Wolcott – Gary Membrino, age 67, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his fiancé, Deborah (Gamble) Dunne.
Gary was born on October 24, 1953 in Waterbury, the son of the late Ralph Membrino and Jean (Boyd) Membrino. Gary was a dedicated employee of Beacon Communities, previously Creative Management, for a combined 44 years. He took great pride in maintaining his primary complex, Countryside Apartments in Wolcott, CT.
Gary enjoyed NASCAR races, the New York Yankees, trips to the casino, listening to Elvis Presley, and attending races at Stafford Motor Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl. Prior to being a spectator, Gary was a competitor in modified racing. In 1975, he earned the title of Plainville Stadium Track Champion where he was known as “The Fox.”
Gary is survived by his daughters, Tara (Membrino) Anderson and her husband, William Anderson Jr., of Wolcott, and Kelly (Membrino) Thomas of Plantsville, and their mother, Sandra (Hanlon) Membrino; his grandchildren, Alyssa Anderson, Samantha Anderson, Zac Thomas, William Anderson III, Tanner Thomas, Joseph Dunne, and Joshua Dunne; his sister, Kim Membrino of Waterbury; his niece, Ashley Membrino; his aunt, Catherine (Boyd) LaRosa; his uncle, Anthony “Jap” Membrino, and many extended family members and friends.
Gary’s family would like to thank the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center Staff and VITAS Hospice Care Staff for their exceptional care.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:30am at Woodtick Memorial, with a funeral home service at 11 a.m. Burial will be held immediately following at Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury.
