Francisca Luciano

Waterbury - Francisca “Panchita” Luciano, 90, of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

She was born on January 19, 1933 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico to the late Georgino Roman Lopez and Evangelista Lopez. She was raised in Puerto Rico and then moved to New Jersey where her children were raised. She then moved to Waterbury, CT where she resided until her passing. She was a long-time member and Deacon of Casa Del Perdon.

Panchita was a devoted and exceptional mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was. Panchita enjoyed embroidering, all types of flowers and birds, but mostly enjoyed cooking for her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness and determination. “To know her was to love her.”

She is survived by her sons Eliezer Luciano of Waterbury, Leonides Luciano and his wife Rosa of Waterbury, 4 daughters, Blanca Rodriguez of Waterbury, Clara Moriarty and her husband Mike of Southington, Nelida Corado and her husband Edwin of Groton, Migdalia Luciano and her husband Ernest Duran of Florida. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Irma Lopez and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Cleofe and daughter, Nelida. She was also predeceased by her sisters Ramona Laboy, Inez Laboy, Rosa Rosado and her brothers Luis Roman and Herminio Lopez.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Family and friends may also visit on Thursday morning starting at 10:00 A.M. until the start of the service at 11:00. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
