Wolcott – Emil F. Howes of Wolcott, husband of Marie A. (Andria) Howes passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021. Born in Danbury on September 24, 1926, he was the son of Anthony Emil and Amelia (Joseph) Howes. He resided in Wolcott since 1965 and shortly after moving there served on the Town Council for the first district.

Emil was a graduate of Wilby High School and Concord University in Athens, West Virginia where he received a BS degree in Business Administration and completed additional courses in Personnel and Labor Relations. He retired as Personnel director at Scovill/Century Brass and served as a personnel consultant upon retirement.

He was a proud Army veteran in the Fifth Infantry serving in World War II and the Korean War. Emil maintained membership in the VFW Post 1979, and the DAV Chapter. He was a retired member of the Naugatuck Valley Personnel Council where he once served as President, the CT Personnel Association, the American Society for Training and Development, the Waterbury and Wolcott Lions Clubs and the United Way (Board Member). He also served as First Vice President with the Visiting Nurses Association on the Advisory Board, and a part-time instructor at Waterbury State Technical College, and past member of the Waterbury Elks, Lodge 265.
He cherished time spent with family, enjoyed reading, sports, traveling, wintering in Florida with friends and occasional trips to the casino. He was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan.

In addition to Marie, his loving wife of 68 years, he leaves two sons, Thomas R. Howes and his wife Jaye (Ciriello) of Wolcott, and his grandchildren Amy O’Rourke and husband Conor of Rhode Island, and Matthew of New York; and son Steven E. Howes and his wife Karen of California, and grandchildren Candi of Indiana and Jeffrey of Washington State.

Our family wishes to thank all the caregivers at The Summit at Plantsville for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism, and the support of the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association.
