Waterbury – Edward D. Kenny, 92, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 3, at his home at the Village at East Farms. He was the husband of the love of his life, the late Betty (Hines) Kenny.
Edward was born October 8, 1930 in Waterbury, son of the late James and Catherine (Lawlor) Kenny. Raised in Waterbury, he attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High Schools, and received his Bachelor of Social Science Degree from Fairfield University. He served honorably in the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War. He then went on to a career with the State of CT Welfare Dept and Superior Court, retiring as a Family Relations Supervisor for Litchfield County Superior Court. Other than his family, his passions were bowling, singing, the Red Sox / Patriots / Celtics, crossword puzzles, and cruises with his wife. He was a former communicant of St. Maria Goretti Church in Wolcott.
He is survived by his children: Deborah A. Kenny and her husband James Trotz of New Windsor, MD, Maureen E. Kenny of Torrington, and Edward D. Kenny, Jr and his wife Lisa Lorraine of Rocky Hill; his grandchildren, Christopher Hackney, Nicole Reichenbach, Jeffrey Trotz, Amanda Hackney, Erika Kenny, and Jason Kenny; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Jim, Joe, Will, John, Margie, and Kay.
The family would like to thank Frank Hackney, Bibi Tamis, and Cheryl Grande for their years of help and friendship, and the amazing staff of the Village at East Farms for their dedicated care over the last 21 years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 9, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church (St. Basil the Great Parish) 525 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
