Wolcott – Clara L. Cocchiola, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert Cocchiola, Sr.

Clara was born in Boston, MA on October 16, 1934 to the late Bernard and Ruth (Whiteway) Favara. Clara worked as a teacher’s aide in Wakelee School and Wolcott High School. She loved horses and dogs, especially her beloved dog Bella, and enjoyed playing bingo.

Clara is survived by her 8 children, Angela Caruso, and her husband, Mark; Kathleen Francis, and her husband, Robert; Victor Zaccagnini, and his wife, Pammela; Anita Russo, and her husband, Ben; Jim Cocchiola, and his wife, Nancy; Cynthia Lionello, Robert Cocchiola, Jr., and his wife, Cheryl; and Charles Cocchiola, and his wife, Ruby; her 3 siblings, Victor Favara, Sr., and his wife, Lee; Bernard Favara; and Sister Clara Marie (Lorraine Therrien); 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Including her husband, Robert, Clara was predeceased by her 2 children, John Zaccagnini, Jr.; and Susan Zaccagnini; and her sister, Nancy Merli.

Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 15 at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott; meet directly at church. Burial will be held privately in the spring.

Clara’s last words to her loving family were, “Be Happy, No Tears.” In celebration of her life, the family would appreciate guests to wear Clara’s favorite color, purple, in her honor.
