Claire B. (Charron) Belval, age 99, of Wolcott, passed away on June 27, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of the late Lomer R. Belval.
Claire was born September 9, 1921 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to the late Henry and Eugenie (Martel) Charron. They relocated to Waterbury in 1923. Then in 1943, she married her sweetheart, Lomer Robert Belval. Together they raised 5 children in Wolcott, after purchasing a home in 1946.
She loved her garden, growing tomatoes, green beans, and marigold flowers. Family and friends will remember Claire for her delicious meals and desserts, especially her homemade brownies.
Before retiring from Medicare Pavilion as head cook, Claire also worked for Cedar Lane, Grove Manor and St. Mary's Hospital.
Claire is survived by her loving children, Robert (Barbara) Belval of Wolcott, Richard (Rita) Belval of Oakville, Lorraine Hoebel of Bristol, Janet Belval of Wolcott and Edward (Donna) Belval of Wolcott; her grandchildren, Robert Jr (Kim) Belval, Philip (Doreen) Belval, Barbara (John) Philippi, Todd Belval; Richard Jr (Luzia) Belval, Michele Belval; Christopher (Ashley) Hoebel, James (Melissa) Hoebel; Michelle (Jason) DeCarlo, Lisa (Paul) Novakowski and Edward Belval Jr.; her 17 great grandchildren, and her sister, Evelyn Girouard of Southington.
She was predeceased by brother Henry Charron, her sisters Lucille Krasnovsky (Fred), Janet Bertulis (Ed) and brother in law Ray Girouard.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private and a celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wolcott View Manor and Beacon Brook Health Center for caring for their Mother.
