Tribute

Wolcott - It is with deep sadness that we announce that Antonin Jan Blazek,82, of Wolcott, beloved husband of 55 yrs to the late Anna Blazek, is resting at peace, passing away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022.

He was born to the late Antonie Jalovkova and Antonin Blazek on September 7, 1939, in Zlin, Czech Republic. Antonin served in the Czechoslovakian military monitoring the Czech border for aircraft and training German Shepherds. They later defected to Austria, part of an immigration program at Waterbury Farrel - Textron based out of Cheshire Ct. The company sought skilled labor from overseas. He worked alongside many good friends and other Czech immigrants. Antonin was a skilled  machinist. He was a heavy miller planer at the factory from 1969 to the day they closed their doors in the mid 90's. Antonin along with his wife and young son left Czechoslovakia in 1969 to start an exciting, wonderful new way of life to what was known as the promise land. The sacrifices they made were profound, leaving behind everyone and everything they knew and loved. Originally settling in Waterbury, the young family later moved to Wolcott in 1976.

Antonin was a car enthusiast to say the least. He loved to watch races on TV and to go to Limerock Park every year with his son. One of his proudest moments after coming to the United States was purchasing his first car, a BMW. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the beach. Antonin, his whole life always had a way with dogs, his own and others. Some even called him a "dog whisperer".

Antonin is survived by a daughter, Nicole Blazek, of New Haven Ct; his son Antonin and his wife Kimberly Blazek, two grandchildren, Samantha and Kylie Blazek both from Southington Ct. In addition, he leaves behind many friends and family both in the Czech Republic and the United States.
