WATERBURY ~ William J. Dery, Jr., 81 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 3rd . He was husband of Dolores (Trevino) Dery. Mr. Dery was born May 4, 1929 in Waterbury, son of the late William J. and Olive (Houle) Dery, Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had also served with the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard. He started his employment career at Anaconda American Brass and also worked at Pik-Kwik. Bill and Dolores moved to Ocala, FL in 1994 and returned to Waterbury in 2007. He was a life long Red Sox fan and enjoyed a game of golf. He was a member of the American Legion ~ Wolcott Post 165 and enjoyed working on Bingo night. Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves his children, Sharon Ober of Torrington, Catherine Courchaine and husband Grant of Plainfield, William Dery, III and Kenneth Dery of Waterbury, Brian Dery and his partner, Deiadre Lee of IN, Thomas Dery of Waterbury, and Tina Jacovino-Benson and husband Carl of Wolcott, his sister, Rosemarie "Ozzie" Kozlowsky of Thomaston, his grandchildren, Dawn, Teresa, Sarah, Joseph, Mariessa, Kristi-Lynn, Ian, Kaitlyn and Kyle, and 6 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may gather from 1:00 until 3 pm.
