Wayne Monroe Chance, Sr., 70, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016. He was the son of Julio Prestipino and the late Marie Byron Prestipino. Born and raised in Waterbury, Wayne attended Croft High School where he was a star athlete. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Wayne was employed by Northeast Utilities for 34 years until he retired in 2003. He was also a passionate deer hunter and avid outdoorsman. Wayne is survived by his father, Julio Prestipino; his sons, Wayne Monroe Chance, Jr., and his wife Rebecca, of Wolcott; and Michael Julio Chance, also of Wolcott; his brother, Richard Chance, of Waterford; his grandchildren, Chloe, Lauren, Caleb, Brooklyn, and Jameson; and his former wife, Marie Chance, of Wolcott. Wayne was predeceased by his mother, Marie Byron, and his sister, Marie "Honey" Squatriglia. Calling hours will be held Friday, April 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 2 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd., Waterbury. Meet directly at church. Burial will be held privately.
