Armed Forces Veteran Vincent E. Martinelli, 78, of Wolcott, (formerly of Waterbury) died peacefully at Saint Marys Hospital in Waterbury on Thursday, February 18th, 2016, with his closest family at his side.
Vincent E. "Stahtz" Martinelli, born February 14th, 1938, the 15th child of the late Domenico & Rosalina (Gallicchio) Martinelli,
His loved ones knew him to be kind and selfless, always singing or tending to his lush and vibrant garden. He was an accomplished duck and king pin bowler for many years, and the familys horseshoe champion. He served in the United States Army, and was known by many city workers through three mayorships as "Uncle Vinny."
In addition to his wife, Maureen, of 53 years, he leaves behind children Deborah Guerriero, Vincent E.Martinelli, and DawnMartinelli; grandchildren Mikala, Mariangela, and Margaret; sisterElizabeth 'Betty" Sullivan; sister and brother-in-lawCarmella 'Molly"and Thomas Frank McCusker; sister-in-law, Ann Martinelli;and many nephews, nieces, cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews.
He is predeceased by his siblings Mary and Genefef "Gene' Ostroski; Angelina Martinelli; Vincenzo Martinelli; Marguerita Martinelli; Michelina 'Dorothy"and Joseph "Al' Houle; Filomena Martinelli; Nicholas Martinelli; Mary "Gerty" Humiston; Assunda"Suzie" Keparutis; Francisco'Bootsie' Martinelli; Angelo 'Charlie' Martinelli; and Vito John"Billy" Martinelli.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from Woodtick Memorial, to St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, for 10 a.m. Mass. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
