WATERBURY ~ U. Horton Warner, Jr., 87, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1st at St. Marys Hospital. He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Yvette (Robitaille) Warner. Mr. Warner was born October 12, 1923 in Waterbury , son of the late Ulysses Horton and Margaret (McGoldrick) Warner, Sr. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific. Upon discharge from the service, he received his machinist training at Chase Brass & Copper Co and became a linotype machinist for the Waterbury Republican-American and continued his career at The New Haven Register before retiring from the Courier Citizen. He attended St. Peter & Paul Church. Besides his devoted wife, he leaves his children, Jacqueline Boisvert and husband, Donald of Watertown, Denise Johnston and husband, Brian of Waterbury, Marguerite Assif and husband, William of Northfield, Robert Warner and wife, Janice of Northfield, Thomas Warner and wife, Joanne of Willimantic, and Mark Warner of Waterbury, his brother, Kenneth Warner of Lake Worth, FL, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Donald Rosenthal & staff, Dr. Joseph Bowen, Dr. Edmund Quinn, the staff at Cheshire House, St. Marys ER Staff, Xavier 3 Staff and the Waterbury VNA Hospice Care for their compassionate care during Mr. Warners illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. , Wolcott to St. Peter & Paul Church, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
