Wolcott - Thomas E. Ignacio, 52, of Wolcott, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 surrounded by family after a heroic battle with cancer. Thomas, the son of Mary (Halpin) Ignacio of Wolcott and the late Ronald Ignacio, was born November 26, 1963 and spent his lifetime in Wolcott. Thomas, also known as Poss, was a 1981 graduate of Wolcott High School. After high school he worked various jobs including Gary Steele Construction. He was later employed at Industrial Riggers for the past 18 years. Poss had a huge love for Harley Davidson and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His hard work, generosity and sense of humor are all part of his legacy he leaves behind. In addition to his mother, Poss is survived by three brothers, Ronald and James of Wolcott, and Robert of Hawaii; three sisters, Catherine of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Theresa Guerrera and her husband Mario of Watertown, and Donna of Wolcott; and sister-in-law, Diane of Wolcott. Poss is predeceased by his brother, Michael. He is also survived by his uncle James Halpin of Boston, MA., and aunt Josephine Arcovio of Waterbury. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, a great niece and nephew, cousins and numerous great friends. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 11 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Chang and staff at Smilow Cancer Center, hospice nurses Alicia, Joann, Gigi and Debby for their compassion and care given to Poss during his illness.
