BRISTOL ~ Thomas E. Hamel, Sr., 49, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Sharon Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra (Lango) Hamel. Tom was born October 5, 1962 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Henry Joseph Eugene Hamel and the late Ann (Verrier) (Hamel) Bringman. He started his employment career with DufourBus Company, Ryder Student Transportation, and First Student Transportationand in 1993 went to Ryder Truck Renting and Leasing Co. where he served as Maintenance Manager. His main focus was the love for his family and he cared deeply for his children and his foster family. He enjoyed traveling, camping and his work. Tom loved fixing things because of his ability as a mechanic by trade. His legacy will live on through his tissue donations. "He will be forever in our hearts". Besides his wife, Sandra, he leaves his children, Thomas E. Hamel, Jr. of Bristol, TyLeam Hamel of Bristol, Kenneth Stone of Naugatuck, Frank and Daniel Torres of Bristol, Alicia Marinoccio of Bristol, and Danielle Brown of VA; his brothers, David and Robert Hamel of Wolcott, Alan Hamel of Terryville and Eric Hamel of Bristol; his sisters, Christina Pina of Terryville and Laura W. Fusco of Waterbury; his grandchildren, Justin, Blake and Logan Stone, Christian Twigg and Aubrey Brown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul. A gathering with a memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 13th from 4 to 7 pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
