Wolcott - Mrs. Theresa (Cermola) Massimo, 85, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 4, 2014 at Wolcott View Manor. She was the wife of the late Thomas Massimo Sr. Theresa was born on March 24, 1929 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Michael and Concetta Cermola. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Theresa worked as a physicians assistant for Dr. Ralph Phaneauf for over 20 years before her retirement. She was a longtime member of the St. Lucys Church Holy Rosary Society and a very active member of the Waterbury Knights of Columbus with her husband. Theresa enjoyed traveling with her husband and the Gad-About Bus Touring Company. She leaves behind her sons, Paul M. Massimo and his wife Peggy of Wolcott, Michael Massimo of Waterbury, and Thomas Massimo and his wife Mary Ellen of Waterbury; her daughter, Laurene Massimo of Middletown; her brother, Robert Cermola of Wolcott; and two granddaughters, Nicole Smudin of Waterbury and Lindsey Massimo of Wolcott. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time to leave for church at 10:30 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott.
