Waterbury - Simonne D. Poirier, 88, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on November 2, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital.
Simonne was born in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Denis and Louisia (Bouffard) Poirier.
She worked for many years in retail at Miller & Peck clothing store in Waterbury before she retired. Simonne was a communicant at the Shrine of St. Anne Church in Waterbury and was a loving caregiver for her parents for many years. She loved babysitting her nieces and nephews and in earlier years, enjoyed dancing and sewing was also a hobby.
She is survived by her sisters, Irene Ponte and Rachel Hamel and her husband Andrew of Waterbury, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Albert, two sisters, Lucille and Claire and a brother in law, Americo "Mickey" Ponte.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott from 5-8pm. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00am from Woodtick Memorial to arrive at the Shrine of St. Anne Church for a Mass at 11am. Burial will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to: Friends of St. Anne Restoration Fund, c/o The Community Foundation, 43 Field St. Waterbury, CT 06702.
