Simpson
November 20, 1927 – August 2, 2025
We sadly announce the passing of Ruth (Porzenheim) Simpson, wife of the late George E. Simpson, on Saturday August 2, 2025 in St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 97.
Born in Waterbury on November 20, 1927, she was the daughter of John E. and Mildred (Sills) Porzenheim. Ruth graduated from Wilby High School and attended NVCC. Ruth was a long-time resident of Watertown and Farmington.
Ruth had a 36-year career with SNET, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Ruth was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of Waterbury, the Farmington Senior Center and the Friends of both Watertown and Farmington Libraries. She volunteered as a Medicare counselor for many years for the WCAAA.
Ruth spent many happy hours playing in the dirt, tidying up her gardens. She enjoyed many years of socializing and traveling with Daniel Hawkins including a cruise on the Queen Elizabeth 2.
Ruth was grateful for and very proud of her dependable and caring children, Diane and her husband Stephen Bormolini, Shawn and his wife Linda Simpson, her grandchildren Laura and Elisha Muller, Jessica Simpson and Sarah Bormolini, her great grandchildren Jocelyn Dumaine, Nadia and Julia Muller and several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her husband George, Ruth was predeceased by sister Betty Carmichael Cary, and three brothers John Jr., Royal and Ronald Porzenheim.
Ruth's life will be celebrated on Saturday August 9, 2025 with a Memorial Service beginning at 11AM to be held at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott followed by burial of her cremains in Woodtick Cemetery.
