NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV- Mr. Russell Emons, beloved husband of Janice (Fitzner) Emons and former resident of Wolcott, CT, passed away on January 1, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada at age 82. Russell's professional passions centered around teaching and serving his community. He was an elementary school teacher at several Wolcott schools and director of the voluntary summer school program before serving as principal of Tyrrell Elementary School from 1981 - 1998. In service to his community, Russell was a lifetime member of Wolcott Vol. Fire Dept., Co #1 for 52 years, including duties as town Fire Marshall, and was elected to 3 terms as a member of the Wolcott Town Council from 1997-2002. Blending his passions, he was a fire instructor and curriculum developer at the Connecticut Fire Academy. In his leisure Russell enjoyed refereeing youth football, golfing, and playing cards with his many friends. Russell was born in Waterbury on February 8, 1941, and is the son of the late Edmund and Lillian (Montello) Emons. He is survived by his lifelong love, Janice, with whom he shared a 60(!) year marriage. He is also survived by his four sons: Russell Jr. and his wife Linda, Christopher and his wife Lisa, Michael, Darin and his wife Kathy, his brother David and his wife Pamela, and eight grandchildren, Mark, Annalise, Christina, Amelia, Elias, Addison, William, and Wellington. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia Emons of Wolcott. Funeral Mass on Saturday Jan 27th at St Pius X Church in Wolcott, CT at 10:30 AM. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH.
