WOLCOTT ~ Rosaire "Russ" J. Gagne, 86, of Wolcott passed away on Saturday, May 14th at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Garofano) Gagne. Russ was born January 18, 1925 in Fontainebleau, Canada, son of the late Edward and Florence (Burque) Gagne. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He served in France and England and received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He started his employment career at Timex and Scovill Mfg. Companies and retired from the Connecticut State Police as a carpenter. While employed as Scovill Mfg. Co, he served as Director of Recreation. For many years, he was a supernumerary for the Waterbury Police Department and served as a Constable for the Town of Wolcott. Russ was a faithful member of the Wolcott V.F.W. Post 1965. During his younger years he coached baseball and softball for several teams in the Waterbury area. Besides his devoted wife, Anne of 65 years, he leaves his loving daughter, Cindy Carroll of Wolcott, his sisters, Bertha Chasse of Wolcott and Rose Hart of Southington, his grandsons, Christopher and Jonathon Carroll of Wolcott, several nephews and nieces and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm.
