Roger R. Lavoie, SR.
WALLINGFORD ~ Roger R. Lavoie Sr., 78, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Masonic Health Care Center after a long illness. He was born on May 8, 1934 in Waterbury, CT to the late Joseph and Rebecca (Archambault) Lavoie. He was the devoted husband to Sheila (McKee) Lavoie.
Roger was a US Navy Veteran, enlisted in 1953, served for 3 years and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a collector of model trains and coins. Roger found enjoyment in photography, woodworking and carpentry. He was last employed as a supervisor at First National Supermarket where he retired from.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children; Robert Higley and wife, Rosa of California, Paul Lavoie and his wife Cindy of Trumbull, Roger Lavoie Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Wallingford, Alison Menard and her husband Joseph of Wallingford, his grandchildren, Christian Higley, Amber Hasler and her husband Steve, Armand Menard and his wife Sarah, Luke Lavoie, Evan Lavoie, Caroline Lavoie, Andrew Lavoie, Hannah Lavoie, Sarah Lavoie, great grandchildren, Aurora Menard, Kaylee Hasler, a brother Raymond Lavoie of Plantsville, his sisters, Ceil Statkevich and her husband John of Shelton, Claire McDonald of Waterbury and several nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Funeral will be held Thursday, December 20, at 11 am at the funeral home.
