Obituary

Trois-Rivieres, Canada- Mr.Roger Gelinas, 87, formally of Waterbury, passed away on June 9, at Pavillon Ste-Marie in Trois-Rivieres, Canada. He was the husband of the late Monique (Lacerte) Gelinas. Roger was born on December 13, 1926 in St. Barnabe, Canada, son of the late Mr. Philias and Georgine Gelinas. Roger was a local home and improvement contractor for 25 years until his retirement. Roger was a lifetime member of the Franco-American Social Club, the Canada's Club in Meriden, La Rencontre and a communicant at the Shrine of St. Anne's in Waterbury where he was an usher for a number of years. Roger enjoyed his family, watching the NY Mets baseball, as well as a big Montreal Canadiens hockey fan. Roger is survived by two daughters, Louise Grenier and her husband Louis of Thomaston; and Denise Cournoyer and her husband J.P. of Waterbury; four sons, John Gelinas and his wife Jennifer of Woodbury; Guy Gelinas and his wife Nancy of Southington; Michael Gelinas of Waterbury; and Daniel Gelinas and his wife France of Waterbury; ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 16, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 17, at 10:00 A.M. at the Shrine of St. Anne Church, 515 S. Main St., Waterbury. Burial will follow inAll Saints Cemetery.
