Southington - Mrs. Rita ( Bisaillon ) Fortin, 86 , of Southington and formerly of Wolcott , and the devoted wife of Wilfred Fortin passed away peacefully on Thursday Dec. 5, 2024 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Rita was born on May 6, 1938, daughter of the late Henry and Beatrice ( Audet ) Bisaillon. For many years she was the owner of Rita's Variety News in Meriden, CT. Rita was a member and past president of the Franco-American Social Club in Waterbury. When she lived in Southington, she was active at the Calendar House and Bread for Life Food Pantry. She also enjoyed crocheting and bingo. In addition to her husband of 64 years, left to carry on her loving legacy are her daughter Cynthia 'Cindy' and her husband Paul Rossi, her son Wayne and his wife Donna Geary Fortin all of Wolcott, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her brothers Albert and Marcel 'Pat' Bisaillon, and her sisters Janet Cleary and Lorraine Bandeira. The family would also like to thank the Hospice Care Unit at the Hospital of Central CT for their compassion and care of Rita during her time there. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 AM on Friday December 13th at St. Pius Church/St. Basil the Great Parish 517 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott.
