Richard J. Ziomek, 69, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband to Mary (Powers) Ziomek for the last 48 years and wonderful father to his three girls.
Richard was born March 16, 1943 in Bristol, son of the late Theodore and Marie (Bachman) Ziomek. He retired from General Motors as a machine operator. Rich enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was an animal lover and especially had a soft spot for his dog Abby. In the winter you could find him and his love Peggy, in Florida and in the summer, fishing in Rhode Island. Most recently, he traveled cross country with his wife, three daughters and their husbands he had a wonderful time. He will be missed by friends he met along his travels and his entire family. Richard was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church of Wolcott and was a lifetime member of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Company #2.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Patricia Albino and her husband Jerome of Bristol, Michelle Bove and her husband Mark of Wolcott, Christine Dunn and her husband Stephen of Wolcott, six grandchildren, Christina and Jerome Albino, Jessica and Mark Bove, and Stephen and Meghan Dunn. He also is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws including Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Eileen Shea of Bristol, Mrs. Sharon Powers of Burlington, Mr. Patrick Powers of FL, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin and Corrine Ray of TX and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis and Julie Powers of Plymouth.
A funeral mass will be held on April 16, Monday at 10am at St. Maria Goretti Church. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Calling hours will be held at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd, in Wolcott on Sunday from 4 pm to 7 pm.
