WOLCOTT VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER
WOLCOTT ~ Richard J. Evon, 80, of Wolcott passed away on Sunday, October 11th at Wolcott View Manor surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Shirley (Curtiss) Evon.
Mr. Evon was born September 2, 1929 in Waterbury, son of the late Napoleon and Emma (Bellemare) Evon. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Plume & Atwood after 34 years of service. He was a Life Member of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department, Company 2 for over 45 years. He held several officer positions in the department and received the Fireman of the Year Award in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trips to the casino.
He leaves his sons, Richard W. Evon of Beacon Falls, Charles Evon of St. Petersburg, FL, Timothy Evon of Wolcott, and Gary Evon of Seymour, his daughter, Louann Evon of Wolcott, his grandchildren, Richard W., Lauren, Heather, Becky, April and Jessica Evon, and Kristin Aldo, his great granddaughter, Brianna Moran, and his sisters, Doris Nihan of Thomaston, and Evelyn Padigus of Wolcott.
A Celebration of Life service will be held onThursday at 11 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm.
