Obituary

Mr. Richard Capobianco, 77, of Waterbury passed away early Monday morning on May 19th in his home. He was the husband of Noella Ann (Greenwood) Capobianco. Richard was born December 2nd, 1947 in Waterbury, son to the late Nicholas and Maria (LaBella) Capobianco. Richard was a lifetime Waterbury native, he graduated from Crosby High School, where he chased and wooed for the love of his forever "bride", who he then married on September 18th, 1971. Richard worked as an E2 Electrician, starting his training in Century Brass and Scovill Manufacturing and later retiring from A.A.B.C in 2011. Richard, known as "The Duke" and "Cappy", was an avid DuckPin bowler, in his younger years, where he shared the sport with his family. He enjoyed watching and betting on the horses, he was never short on words, he would have a conversation with you, while always wearing a vibrant smile.

He deeply loved his wife, Noella of 53 years, he cherished his family more than life itself. Vacations together, road trips, sporting events, fishing trips, were just some of the things he enjoyed. He was extremely proud of his children, Lisa, Chris, and Corrine, for all of their accomplishments in life. He loved his grandchildren: Noah, Olivia, Ally, CJ, Cassie, and Brian; whom he treasured greatly. Recalling the times of falling asleep on "Popa's chest", watching them grow, playing sports, and graduating from all grade levels. Thank-You to all of the customers at Shoprite/Stop & Shop, the ladies at OTB and Wells Fargo for generously listening to and laughing along with him. He loved playing cards, teaching both his children and grandchildren how to play and bet on poker, UNO battles on New Years, the family football pool, Christmas eve and Super Bowl parties, sharing stories from his past, and tending to his garden.

Richard also leaves behind a sister, Lorraine Capobianco and her husband Ronald Shaw, Noella's sisters Joyce and her husband Robert George, Cynthia Birkenberger, Mary and her husband Joseph Scortino. He was an uncle to several nieces and nephews, a cousin to many, and a life-long friend to all those who frequented The Campus. Richard predeceased by brother Nicholas Capobianco Jr. and his wife Rosemary.
