Ms. Rhonda Lynne Shanfeld Bristol - Rhonda Lynne (Gardner) Shanfeld, 56, was called to be a guardian angel on April 1, 2013 at Bristol Hospital after a battle with cancer, while surrounded by her family. She was able to see a picture of Madelynn Alexis, a new grandchild, two days before her passing. Rhonda was born August 13, 1956 in Portsmouth, VA, daughter of Joan (Cloutier) Gardner and the late Wayne Gardner. She was a cat and dog lover. Rhonda was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved watching the races. She always listened to music. Country, rock n roll and bluegrass were her favorite. During her life she collected carousel horses and shot glasses from places she traveled. Most of all she will be missed for the love she gave to her friends and family while socializing and spending time at the ocean, Salmon River and camping. She is survived by her mother, Joan Gardner of Wolcott, a daughter, Jessica Cunningham and her fianc, Jake Baliga of Hartford, a son, Alex Shanfeld, his fianc, Chelsea Zaccaro and their daughter, Madelynn Alexis of Colchester, a brother, Robert Gardner and his wife Leeann of Wolcott, many nieces, nephews and several close friends. She was predeceased by a brother Wayne Gardner II. Friends and family are asked to gather at the Wolcott Congregational Church, 185 Center Street, Wolcott, CT, on Monday, April 8th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm with a service to follow. Woodtick Memorial has been entrusted with her arrangements.
