Waterbury - Mr. Raymond C. Rompre, 96, formally of Roland St., passed away peacefully on Monday, Sep. 15,2014 at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jeanette (Gagnon) Rompre. Raymond was born on April 17, 1918 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Rena (Benoit) Rompre. Raymond worked as a Tool Room Forman at the Benrus Watch Company for a number of years. He also loved listening to barbershop quartet, gardening and cooking. Raymond was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church for over 40 years. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Raymond is survived by two sons, Raymond J. Rompre and his wife Janice, and David Rompre, both of Waterbury; a daughter, Claudia Pettinicchi and her husband David, of Watertown; two sisters, Claire Donnelly of Wolcott, and Sister Rita Rompre, CND, of West Hartford; six grandchildren, Denise, Ray, Dore, David, Doreen, and Jennifer; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Alice Rompre of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Earl Rompre; and a sister, Sister Beatrice Rompre. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St. Waterbury. Prayers of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott.
