Cheshire Mr. Raymond Anthony Normand, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 22, at Elim Park Health Care. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Mancini) Normand.
Raymond was born October 1, 1942, in Waterbury, son of the late John G. and Mildred C. (Passerelli) Normand. Raised in Wolcott he attended local schools and served honorably in the United States Army. He worked in construction, and notably worked on the "mixmaster" I-84/Rt 8 project as well as working as a lineman for Connecticut Light and Power, retiring in 2004 after 38 years. He enjoyed boating, gardening, and hunting. He will be remembered as being handy and was considered a "jack of all trades", who loved to build things. Since a young child, Ray had a love of horses from owning and caring for his horse Dapper Dan to attending polo matches with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Rocca of Wolcott; his sister, Carol McNamara of FL; two grandsons, Mitchell and Andrew Rocca and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elim Park East Unit and Brittany S. his friend and caregiver and also Stephanie and Amber from Vitas Hospice for the wonderful and loving care given to Raymond.
Family and friends may call at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. on Friday, October 27, from 9:30 A.m. until 11:00 A.M. when a prayer service will begin. Burial with full military honors will follow Calvary Cemetery.
