WOLCOTT ~ Raymond W. Cheney, 78, of Wolcott passed away on Tuesday, May 31st at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Friss) Cheney. Mr. Cheney was born January 7, 1933 in Hartford, son of the late Wallace and Leota (Clark) Cheney. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He retired from Lithograph after many years of service and was a former Wolcott Police Officer for 15 years. Mr. Cheney also served as Assistant Animal Control Officer for the town of Wolcott. He was a member of St. Pius X Church and the V.F.W. Post 1965 in Wolcott. His favorte passions included fishing, archery and camping. The family has fond memories of winter picnics at People's Forest. Besides his wife, Barbara, he leaves his children, Jon Cheney and his partner, Dawna of Prospect, Nancy Ruggiers and her husband, John of Waterbury, Kim Ferencz and her husband, Thomas of Bethany, and Linda Chouinard and her husband, Michael of Waterbury; his sisters, Edna Fisher and her husband, Michael of NJ, Felicia Silpa and her husband, Daniel of Bradenton, FL, Cindy Houston and her husband, Kyle of Deming, NM, Nancy Hollenback and partner, Wayne Krack of Deming, NM, and Ruby Orcutt and husband, Cub of Manzanola, CO; his brothers, Lance Cheney and Partner, Don Mondich of Ellenton, FL, Michael Cheney & wife Ruby of Deming, NM, and Norman Cheney and his wife, Tammy of Deming, NM; his grandchildren, Michelle Chouinard Walker, Desiree Chouinard, Samantha Chouinard, Vanessa Ruggiers, Justin Ruggiers, Zachary Ruggiers, and Christiana Ferencz. He was predeceased by his brothers, George (Ben) and Texas Cheney. At Mr. Cheneys request, there will be no funeral or burial services.
