Mrs. Ramona Pacheco Founder of La Casa Bien Venida WATERBURY- Ramona (Martinez) Pacheco, 101, of Waterbury passed away on May 14, 2013 at her home with family at her side. She was the widow of Gilbert Pacheco Sr. Ramona was born November 30, 1911 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Acisclo and Ramona (Cruz) Martinez. She worked for the community for 17 years as the Director and Founder of La Casa Bien Venida in Waterbury. In her earlier years she was a dressmaker and co-owner of Malinza Bridal Shop in NY. She also worked a labor of love with her hands, knitting and crocheting. She was a devoted Catholic, former member of St. Cecilia Church and present member of Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon. Ramona was a faithful well respected woman and lived a wonderful giving long life. She instilled and shared her great values and love to her family and friends. She is survived by sons, Raymond Pacheco of Florida, Gilbert Pacheco Jr. of Waterbury, grandchildren, Ray, Joseph, Gilbert III, Annmarie, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 at Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon Church. Friends and family are asked to gather for a calling hour at 9:30 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd.
