PHILIP L. LEBEL
WOLCOTT ~ Philip L. Lebel, 83, of Wolcott passed away on Saturday, February 14th at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Ann (Miskel) Lebel.
Mr. Lebel was born November 7, 1925 in Blue River, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Joseph and Alexandrine (Pelletier) Lebel. After graduating from Leavenworth High School in Waterbury in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the destroyer USS Blue, which saw extensive combat in the South Pacific. The Blue was part of the escort of the battleship Missouri when the Japanese surrender was signed. An electrician by trade, thanks to his Navy training, he was also the consummate handyman and perfectionist. He built his own home in Wolcott in the early 1950s and liked nothing better than making sure that everything in that home and in the homes of all four of his children was in perfect working order. In addition to being "Mr. Fix-it", he enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards. He enjoyed traveling, especially the many cruises with his wife and family.
Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves his daughter, Dr. Diane Lebel and her husband, Dr. N. Alan Harris of West Boylston, MA, his sons, Mark Lebel and his wife, Palma of New Hartford, John Lebel of Wolcott, and Philip E. Lebel and his wife, Lisa of Wolcott, his sister, Laurette Lamontagne and her husband, Roland of Jupiter, FL and Southbury, his granddaughter, Susan, his grandsons, Jason and Philip A., and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a funeral mass at 10 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30 until the time of the service.
