WATERBURY ~ Paul H. Delage, Sr., 91 of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, February 07, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Louise (Longo) Delage.
Paul was born October 15, 1922 in Waterbury, son of the late Ephrem and Marie-Ange (Perreault) Delage. He was a faithful member of the Shrine of St. Anne Church where he served as Chairman of the Financial Council and the Bingo Committee as well as past Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council. He was a member of the St. Anne Holy Name Society, the St. Jean the Baptist Society and the Athletic and Scholarship Association. Paul was a charter member of the National Rifle Association - Golden Eagles.
He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 265 and the A.A.R.P. Paul retired from Scovill-Century Brass in 1983 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Scovill-Century Retirees, Scovill Foremans Association, and a past president of both the Scovill-Century Rod and Gun Club and the Credit Union. He was a coach for the Waterbury Boys Baseball League for 17 years, Waterbury Youth Hockey, and baseball and basketball for St. Annes Grammar School and CYO. Paul was awarded the honor of being the Franco American Mayor For The Day in 1998.
He leaves his sons, Paul H. Delage, Jr. and his wife Hilary of Cheshire, Thomas Delage and his wife, Patti of Watertown, and Louis Delage of Wolcott, his brother, Edmond Delage of Leesburg, FL, and his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, T.J., Arianna, Brendyn, Alexandra and Meaghan, his great grandchildren, Aihblin and Ryan. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 8:45 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to the Shrine of St. Anne for a funeral mass at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Friends may call the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
